Oak Park Village President Anan Abu-Taleb and Trustee Peter Barber will hold a public forum to hear from residents on Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Abu-Taleb said in an interview that he is holding the forums every other month to give Oak Park residents a platform "to voice their thoughts and opinions and concerns in an informal setting."

He said the forums also aim to move the discussion out of village hall, where residents are given only three minutes to provide public testimony during meetings.

"It's really helpful for me to really hear it from people the way they want to say it," Abu-Taleb said. Abu-Taleb invites a different elected official to join him at each forum.

He noted in a news release that the two previous forums helped guide the board's agenda on the controversial Lake and Forest development, parking and tree planting. The forum is not focused on a single issue, he said.

The forum will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 11 in the Veteran's Room at the Main Library at 834 Lake St.

This is a great opportunity to speak directly and informally to our elected representatives. Hope lots of taxpayers/residents/business owners come out. This is your chance to be heard. Brave the cold!
