The Oak Park and River Forest High School Alumni Association's annual tailgate benefit on Oct. 8 was a success because of many generous supporters. Thank you, Wednesday Journal, for your excellent coverage of Homecoming events, including the tailgate party. This Alumni Association-sponsored event under tents at the Tasty Dog parking lot benefits summer enrichment programs for current OPRFHS students.
The Alumni Association board is grateful to many individuals and companies for making this special day possible for us. We especially want to thank our major sponsors of the event, William B. Sullivan Realty and Community Bank of Oak Park and River Forest. Thanks also to State Senator Don Harmon, who contributed the beer, and Elmer Pilcher of Pernod Richard USA Wine Imports, which donated wine. Other event sponsors included: Frank Stone (1955), Rush Oak Park Hospital (courtesy of Dr. Bernard Coniglio, 1955), the Blaurock Family (Melvin F. Blaurock, 1928; Melvin Blaurock, 1954; Richard Blaurock, 1955; Jean Blaurock Reimann, 1965; Melissa Blaurock, 2001; and Kimberly Blaurock, 2006), and Bill and Janet Dring (class of 1955).
We are also grateful to Anthony Svejda and the fantastic Huskies Marching Band, Lyn LeFebre and the high school athletic office staff, and Tau Gamma, whose students helped with facepainting for our youngest guests. Also, special thanks go to Tasty Dog for use of their parking lot and all their help during this event.
Please mark your calendars for next year's Homecoming on Sept. 30 and join us for the 2006 tailgate benefit!
