I am Margaret Coder's daughter and am writing on behalf of my mother's entire family. We are a quiet family, who appreciate their privacy. We would, however, like to have the opportunity to publicly express our thanks to everyone involved in bringing to justice Margaret Coder's murderer, and would be grateful if you would publish this letter.

We are indebted to the Oak Park Police Department for their diligent commitment to solving this crime. Over the years, we had numerous contacts with department personnel from whom we learned the current status of the case. They provided us encouragement by relating the progress of the case and always demonstrated that this case was as important to them as it was to us. All of our contact was received professionally but with the expected degree of sensitivity in interacting with the victim's family.

We especially thank detectives Patrick Foley and Robert Taylor for their involvement. They are model law enforcement officers in their professionalism and perseverance, and we are grateful for their important contribution to the guilty verdict. We also commend Art Borchers, Tom D'Vonch, Roger Grivetti, Clem Harbour, Joe Kalita and the other officers involved for their outstanding work in the original investigation of the case in 1992.

In regards to the evidence discovered, we commend Kevin Zeeb, who was responsible for processing some of the evidence recovered from the scene. We will forever be in awe of his foresight in preserving that evidence. Without it, our mother's murder would likely have remained forever unsolved.

While we do not condone the purchase of stolen property, we are grateful that it was done by Elijah Slaughter. Mr. Slaughter consistently cooperated with the authorities, and his testimony was crucial to the successful prosecution. We are thankful for his being an upstanding citizen in this case.

Assistant state's attorneys Russ Baker and Earl Grinbarg are especially important to us. Their passion for justice was keenly demonstrated in the trial, and we believe it was a strong contribution to a guilty verdict. We sincerely appreciate their efforts in this prosecution.

Finally, we thank all of our friends for their love and support through this difficult time in our lives.
