Kamala A. Mazhar Ali, 74, a longtime resident of Oak Park, died at her home on Nov. 25, 2012. Born on Dec. 5, 1937 in Hyderabad, India, to Abraham and Martha Vallabdas, she was raised there and graduated from Stanley Girls High School and Osmanra University where she received a degree in nursing.
She was a nurse at Hines VA Hospital until her retirement in 1995, and was a founding member of the India Mission Telugu United Methodist Church of Oak Park.
Kamala Mazhar Ali is survived by her husband, Mazhar Ali; her children, Minnu, Diana, and Ibrahim; her son-in-law, Shoukat; her grandchildren, Samir and Sohail; her brother, Samuel Vallabdas; her nephew, Sunil Vallabdas; and her niece, Arundathy Jaya Kumar.
Visitation and funeral service were held Nov. 27 at India Mission Telugu United Methodist Church of Oak Park, followed by interment at Oakridge Cemetery in Hillside.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Susan G. Komen Foundation are appreciated. Arrangements were handled by Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home.
