The village board approved a $100,000 contract with a consultant on Monday, asking the group to come up with a plan to redo Madison Street.

Altamanu was picked for the job, after 12 consultants responded to a village request earlier this month. The group also does consulting work for the Park District of Oak Park.

Trustees John Hedges and Jon Hale voted against the contract, uncertain that it was wise for the village to spend millions to redo the street.

The Village Board, in response to residents' concerns and complaints regarding the millions of tax dollars they spend on consultanting contracts, took what they deemed to be an appropriate action. Effective immediately, these services are to be referred to as "External Support". They call this reform?! Of course, our tax dollars can still flow out of Village Hall and into the pockets of these high priced "experts" but are now hidden in the budget as a more obscure line item. Pretty clever, huh!

Hopefully we'll make an investment in fully studying the proposed development at the old Comcast site too.
