An Oak Park man was arrested at an Indiana hotel Saturday night for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
Samuel Henzel, 29, allegedly drove from Oak Park the evening of Oct. 30 to a Comfort Suites in the Indianapolis suburb of Westfield, where he met the girl.
Henzel had allegedly been chatting with the girl on the Internet, and made plans with her to engage in sexual conduct at the hotel.
However, the 12-year-old called Westfield police from the hotel room, and told them she had been sexually assaulted.
Westfield police arrived within minutes to find Henzel and the girl in the hotel room together.
After he was arrested, Henzel allegedly told police he had met the victim on the Internet and they had planned the meeting in Westfield together. He also admitted he knew the girl's age.
Westfield police turned the case over to the U.S. Attorney's office in Indianapolis soon after, and Henzel has been charged with child enticement and traveling in interstate commerce with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
If convicted, Henzel faces from 10 years to life in prison, as well as a maximum fine of $250,000, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's office.
