Todd, the village could not aggregate that information is complete and that is dependent on when each of those bodies approves their budgets and levies. The Library just approved ours on the 15th and to the best of my knowledge we are the only one who has to report ours to the village. I believe all the others deliver their information directly to the county offices.

However, the agenda for the 11/7 meeting was published online at least by November 4 and the proposed tax and fee increases were noted in a Facebook post on that date. I believe comments about this to WJ online were also posted at that time. So yes, there could have been some earlier notification had he WJ chosen to do so. But that wouldn't have fit with their editorial narrative in support of the referendum.

Just to point out something, they published that article on election day, not after. And the meeting that was the source of the information took place only the night before, the Monday night before the election. So there's really no reasonable way they could have published it earlier. http://www.oakpark.com/News/Articles/11-8-2016/Oak-Park-municipal-taxes-could-increase-8.9-percent/

Nice! For some time, I've been wondering why the Village does not provide citizens with an overarching view of the total, cumulative tax increase picture, given all the different taxing bodies (school, village, library, park district). The Wed. Journal published the 8.9% increase article after the referendum vote, not before. I would prefer to weigh each referendum with some idea of what else is coming just down the road.
