Mary Bonfield Corbett, 71, of River Forest died on Oct. 29, 2011. Born on June 3, 1940, she was a graduate of the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Lake Forest and the Newton College of the Sacred Heart in Newton, Mass. A former teacher and principal at Alcuin Montessori School, she was also a carpenter, and self-taught bagpiper. She played with the Shannon Rovers, the Chicago Metropolitan Pipe Band, and the Chicago Celtic Pipe Band. She also sang with the St. Luke Choir.
Ms. Corbett is survived by her siblings, William J. (Diane), Catherine C. (the late John) Brady, Thomas T. (Mary Lea), Susan B. (Timothy) Doyle, and the late John W. (Nancy) Corbett; her nieces and nephews, Mary Laing, Kate (Daniel) Freund, Susan (John) Brennan, Billy (Evonne) Corbett, John (Natalie), Will, Lizzie (Pete) Murillo, Matthew (Erica) Brady, Thomas (Amy) Corbett, Leah (Carl) Benefiel, John (Emily) Doyle, and Amelia (Dan) Fox; her great-aunt, cousin, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Joseph and Mary Weimer Corbett.
Visitation will take place on Nov. 3 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St. in Oak Park (street is under construction, please call for details). Prayers are on Friday, Nov. 4, at 9:15 a.m., and funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Church, Lake and Lathrop streets in River Forest, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery.
