A 57-year-old schizophrenic man has gone missing from an Oak Park group home, and police are asking for the public's help in finding him.
Charles McCain Jr., 57, was last seen around 3:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2 at Thresholds Group Home, 1102 N. Austin Blvd.
Oak Park police said he reportedly left to walk to a nearby store, but never came back.
According to his family, McCain suffers from schizophrenia and depression, likely has no identification and would not be able to find his way back to the group home independently.
He is described as being black, roughly 6'4" tall, 180 lbs. with brown eyes and grey hair.

When I read the line "and would not be able to find his way back to the group home independently" one just has to wonder why he was allowed to walk off to this store alone in the first place? Now we have to utilize public resources to look for him, not to mention the dangers that he may face? The management of this group home needs to be examined by the parent organization and changes made immediately.
