Lois E. Ebinger, 97, died on Aug. 4, 2011. Now a memorial service is being planned for Oct. 8.
Ms. Ebinger lived in Oak Park all of her life, except for the years she spent teaching nursing at Yale University and Vanderbilt University. For the last 10 years, she resided at Oak Park's Holley Court Terrace Retirement Community.
She spent many years as director of nursing at Northwestern University Hospital in Chicago, retiring in 1978. She was honored by the American National Red Cross Nursing Corps for her involvement in training nurses in Chicago to go into the U.S. Army Nurse Corps in 1941 for duty during World War II.
She was a member of the Euclid Methodist Church.
Lois Ebinger was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth, and her brother, Frederick.
