Peter Sagal, host of NPR's Wait Wait … Don't Tell Me! is next up in the Wednesday Journal Conversations series. Sagal, an Oak Parker for many years, has hosted Wait, Wait for almost 20 years. Broadcast nationally and co-produced by Chicago's WBEZ, the show is heard by nearly three million listeners on the radio and another million each month on a podcast version.
Sagal will be on the stage of Dominican University's Fine Arts Center on Monday, Nov. 20. Charlie Meyerson will once again serve as the moderator. Tickets are available now at OakPark.com/sagal for the nominal price of $25.
The first event in the Conversations series sold out in September. It featured David Axelrod, political commentator and former advisor to President Barack Obama.
Beyond the Peabody Award-winning radio program, Sagal is known locally for his appearances on behalf of local nonprofits and as an avid and frequently visible runner.
"The Journal is really pleased to have Peter Sagal as part of our Conversations series. Many of us have spent a lot of Saturday mornings, stuck in mid-errand, waiting for a segment of Wait, Wait to close out before we drop off the dry cleaning or make it to the Farmers Market," said Dan Haley, Journal publisher. "Bright, pointed and quick-witted, Peter is not just an irreverent entertainer but someone helping to drive the wide national conversation."
This series of Conversations is presented by Dominican University. Our moderator is Charlie Meyerson, founder of the Chicago Public Square, a daily e-mailed news wrap. He's also a longtime Oak Parker with a career in news from radio to digital to print.
Sponsors of the series include the Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation, state Sen. Don Harmon, and Maya del Sol restaurant.
