Fenwick football head coach Gene Nudo and several of his players will appear on “The Doris Davenport Show” with Doug Wyman Sunday, October 30 between 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. on WPNA Radio 1490 AM. Listeners can also check out the show live via www.radiowpna.com.

Marty Farmer, the Wednesday Journal’s award-winning sports editor will also be live in studio with Doris and Doug to ask Coach Nudo and the Friars a variety of questions about life on and off the field.

The Friars currently are 8-1, highlighted by winning the Chicago Catholic League Green Division championship. During the regular season, Fenwick defeated a pair of reigning state champs in Phillips (Class 4A) and Montini (6A) and essentially crushed the rest of the competition, with the exception of a home loss against 8a defending state champion Loyola Academy.

Senior quarterback Jacob Keller, senior running back Conner Lillig and wide receivers Mike O’Laughlin, Sherman Martin and Jack Henige headline a spectacular offense. Defensively, Oak Park’s own Ellis Taylor and Ryan Chapman along with outstanding linebackers Marty Stein and Brett Moorman and the Blakeney brothers, Lorenzano and Lorente, anchor the secondary.

Coming off a 3-6 injury-plagued season in 2015, the Friars have restored the program’s tradition of success with a particularly tight-knit, hard-working group of players.

Fenwick opens the Class 7A playoffs against visiting Hononegah (5-4) on Saturday, October 29. Kickoff is 3 p.m. at Triton College in River Grove.

Cheer the Friars on to victory Saturday and then listen to their postgame thoughts on Sunday with Doris, Doug and Marty. The road to a Class 7A state title starts this weekend for Fenwick!
