A heartfelt thanks for showering our Roosevelt Middle School students with support as they conceived, planned, and organized their Sept. 11 Katrina 5K. Your donations and the enthusiastic spirit of more than 500 students, teachers, parents, neighbors and friends who participated in the walk raised over $34,400 for American Red Cross hurricane relief efforts. Each person who walked, donated money, staffed a rest stop, collected pledge forms, handed out water, assisted at crosswalks and cheerfully helped with a multitude of other tasks led our children by example. This is a lesson from the heart that our children and our families will carry with them always.
