Growing River Forest

In River Forest, Monday evening, Village President Cathy Adduci made good on a key campaign promise with the appointment of seven individuals to the newly created Economic Development Commission. In doing so, Adduci took full advantage of the range of talented local people knowledgeable about development and put them to work on the village's behalf.

In the past, River Forest's growth trajectory was only as good as the village president. Former President Frank Paris drove considerable growth along Lake Street with his singular vision. But he worked entirely under wraps and virtually without input from staff, fellow trustees or the public. Adduci, a very successful corporate executive, is showing more confidence by opening the process to added expertise and working in a more transparent atmosphere.

Creating success in development will take some time as this group begins to coalesce and focus. But the moment is right as we move out of the long recession and new ambitious goals again seem possible.

Great - finally progress. We have needed Economic Capability Development in this Town for a LONG time. It is too important to be left to one person. Now we need RESIDENTS for this group -- not NON RESIDENTS.
