Huskies win St. Ignatius Regional; Blazers come in second
The OPRF girls golf team dominated the competition at the St. Ignatius Regional by scoring a 363, 36 shots better than runner-up Trinity (399). Emma Youman paced OPRF with an 87, followed by Mia Shapiro (90), Amanda Youman (92), Elaine Houha (94), Nicole Gagliardo (103) and Katie Latham (107).
Lindsay Dodovich's 87 and Liz O'Reilly's 93 led Trinity. Natalia Francisco (100), Lauren Bavaro (119), Laura Sikora (120) and Maddie Ganz (128) also contributed for the Blazers.
St. Ignatius scored a 403, edging Fenwick (406) for the final spot regarding teams moving on to the next round of the playoffs. Advancing individuals for Fenwick were Frankie Bell (95), Katie Rodden (101), Caroline Green (102), Meredith Green (108), Mae Lattner (114) and Meagan Finucane (117).
De La Salle's Emily Brown carded a 79 to win the medalist.
OPRF, Fenwick boys golf advance three apiece to sectional
The Oak Park and River Forest and Fenwick boys golf teams finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the team standings at the Glenbrook North Regional in the Class 3A playoffs last week. The Huskies scored 314 while Fenwick posted a tally of 317 as both teams finished behind the three advancing teams, regional champion Glenbrook North (292), Notre Dame (305) and Glenbrook South (311).
Individuals who qualified for sectional play included the Huskies' Pat Murphy (77), Chris Bell (78) and Mike Duwe (79) along with the Friars' Christian Early (78), Brian Boyle (79), and Jack Mortell (79). Glenbrook senior Nick Hardy fired a 65 to earn medalist honors.
