Training over the holidays isn’t always much fun, except when it leads to immediate success, which was the case for the Fenwick swim team last week.

The Friars posted meet records on their way to winning the 13th Annual Marquette Swimming Invitational on Saturday.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Tom Parolin, Vince Frangella, Dave Meyer, and John Barrett took first with a time of 1:27.84. Parolin, Luke Baldwin, Barrett, and Meyer won the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:14.72.

The Friars scored 302 points at the 22-team tournament.

Fenwick was coming off a second place finish at the Homewood-Flossmoor Viking Pentathlon where three swimmers placed in the top 10. Overall, Baldwin, Parolin, and Meyer finished second, sixth, and seventh respectively.

Baldwin took second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.70 seconds.

The Friars will now gear up for the Sandburg Invitational on Saturday.
