A new English-style pub and sports bar will be joining The Avenue business district, pending a business license approval and final purchase of the property at 149 S. Oak Park Ave.

Monday night the Oak Park village board approved a liquor license for the pub which will be called Pints. The license for co-owners Jim Blessing and Mark Roemer was recommended by the village’s liquor control review board in October. The item was on the consent agenda at Monday’s village board meeting and no discussion was held.

Pints is anticipated to be an upscale, family-oriented establishment, according to minutes from the liquor control review board. There is already a Pints in Elmhurst and three locations in Iowa under the same owners.

According to a village board report, the owners have a contract to purchase the property upon issuance of a license. These documents must be presented back to the liquor control commissioner on or before Feb. 28 to secure the license that was approved Monday.

The target for opening Pints is between March and May. There is also an option of outside seating options being discussed.
