Hey teens! Ready for a good ghost story around the fire?
This January marks Edgar Allan Poe's 202nd birthday and the 166th anniversary of his most famous eerie tale 'The Raven.' It's a perfect opportunity to read scary stories by the fire at River Forest Public Library, 735 Lathrop, this Friday, Jan. 7 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Kids and teens, grades six through nine, are welcome to come – if they dare! Be sure to stick around for the birthday cake in honor of America's creepiest author.

Winter taking its toll? Warm up with some gospel and soul
Otis Clay, a magnificent, deep singer of soul and gospel, can really shake the walls with his distinct voice. He always brings a huge crowd to First Baptist Church of Oak Park's annual Gospel Fest. This time, Clay teams up with the band Boukou Groove, as part of FitzGerald's 30th Anniversary Showcase Series.
Clay's style consists of R&B, soul and blues and his energetic performance will have you dancing in no time. Don't miss this lively performance at FitzGerald's Night Club, 6615 Roosevelt, this Saturday, Jan. 8, starting at 10:30 p.m.

Calling all architecture buffs
You live in a village renowned world-wide for its architecture, but how much do you know about Louis Sullivan? As one of the most influential architects of the Chicago School of Architecture, Sullivan is often referred to as the "father of skyscrapers."
This Sunday, Jan. 9 at 4:45 p.m., the Lake Theatre, 1022 Lake, is screening the documentary Louis Sullivan, The Struggle for American Architecture. The film is the first of its kind to document Sullivan's life and career. It also sheds light on how Sullivan's genius influenced the most famous architect who ever lived – Frank Lloyd Wright.
