? The following contains incidents reported to the Oak Park and River Forest police departments from Dec. 27, 2004 through Jan. 2, 2005. Not all incidents that occurred are listed. Anyone named in reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated.
A man walked into the Game Stop, 6321 North Ave., the afternoon of Dec. 27 holding a small semi-automatic handgun. He walked up to the clerk, demanded money, and handed the clerk a white plastic bag. The clerk complied, putting $425 in the bag, and the man fled.
? A man approached the checkout clerk inside Famous Footwear, 7201 W. Lake St., just after 6 p.m., Dec. 29. Implying he had a weapon, he said "Give me your money or you'll be sorry." An undetermined amount of cash was taken, as well as shoes and socks.
Jennifer M. Moore, 18, of Chicago was arrested for alleged retail theft the afternoon of Dec. 29 at the Walgreens at Ridgeland Avenue and Roosevelt Road after a store clerk flagged down police. The driver of the car Moore was in at the time, Steven C. Judis, 47, of Cicero, was also arrested after a patdown allegedly turned up a pipe commonly used to ingest drugs.
? Maria A. Stone, 40, was charged with retail theft after taking $126 worth of baby care items past the last point of purchase without paying at the Dominick's, 7501 North Ave., River Forest.
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Elsworth Prentiss, 39, of 816 Marengo, Forest Park, was allegedly observed walking through several alleys and gangways where burglaries have occurred recently. A safety patdown reportedly revealed him to be in possession of a pipe commonly used to ingest drugs.
Someone broke into Hayes Coffee, 1010 North Blvd. overnight Dec. 29-30 and stole 350 one-pound bags of premium coffee valued at $6,300.
? Alan R. Gooden, 34, of 816 Marengo, Forest Park, was arrested after he matched the description of a suspicious person who was allegedly looking into garages. A safety patdown reportedly revealed him to be in possession of items subsequently identified as stolen from other garages.
? Someone entered a garage in the 1150 block of South Kenilworth the evening of Dec. 28 and broke the window of a 2003 Land Rover. Once inside they stole 25 samples of an artifical rotator cuff implant, as well as several tools. Loss was estimated at $5,585.
Recovered stolen motor vehicles
? The afternoon of Dec. 31 River Forest police recovered a GMC Jimmy reportedly used in an earlier armed robbery of a Maywood McDonald's in which the store manager was maced while carrying the morning receipts to her car. The Jimmy's steering column had been stripped.
Delmo A. Brooks, 24, of 850 East Ave. was arrested around 9:30 p.m., Dec. 28, after allegedly punching his girlfriend twice in the stomach and pushing her into a television, following a heated verbal altercation. He also allegedly punched the victim's son in the face when he attempted to break up the argument.
? Emmett Guyton, 58, of 238 Washington Blvd. was arrested around 4 p.m. Dec. 30 after he reportedly acknowledged battering a woman at that address.
? Everett L. Pugh, 26, of 322 S. Austin was arrested after allegedly choking a woman at that address.
Criminal damage to property
Michael E. Anderson, 50, of Oak Brook, was arrested just after 8 a.m. on Dec. 28 in the 1000 block of Pleasant after being identified by a witness as the person who allegedly hit a woman's car with a sledgehammer.
Theft from person
A Cicero woman was bumped by a man in the Fair Share Store, 6226 Roosevelt, the afternoon of Jan. 2. The man then asked her where certain items were in the store, while he removed her purse and slipped it under his coat. He left the store with her $65 and entered a waiting auto.
? A Cicero man was approached by two men in the Jewel store, 7036 Roosevelt Rd. the afternoon of Dec. 28. One made physical contact with him, then claimed to be brushing dust off his pants. He was actually lifting the man's wallet, which contained $100.
Theft of auto
? An Oak Park woman had her 1992 Ford Explorer stolen from her home in the 300 block of Chicago Avenue overnight on Dec. 28, possibly with a key missing from her key ring. The car was found the afternoon of Jan. 2 by Kenosha, Wis. police, who also arrested one Howard G. Bernell, 30, in relation to the incident.
? A 1992 Olds Royale valued at $4,000 that was left unlocked with the key in its ignition was stolen from the BP Amoco station, 520 S. Austin Blvd. the morning of Jan. 2.
? A 1997 Toyota Corolla valued at $4,500 was stolen from a home in the 300 block of Chicago Avenue overnight on Dec. 28-29.Altercations attracts unwanted attention
Devin T. Brown, 26, of Chicago was arrested after allegedly being observed by Oak Park officers in a verbal altercation with a woman at the corner of Chicago Avenue and Austin Boulevard. A routine name check turned up a warrant from the Illinois Department of Corrections for a parole violation.
