This is in regards to Les Golden’s letter [Village ‘institutions’ should get a break on taxes, Viewpoints, Jan. 10]. The Oak Park Area Convention and Visitors Bureau wishes to correct an inaccuracy in the following statement: “One of the very few businesses at which Home and Studio visitors spend some dollars.”

Visitors to the “Home and Studio” are visitors to Oak Park. Domestic visitors to Oak Park spent $140.3 million in Oak Park during 2005 in many businesses. Taking into account the extreme amount of international visitation we have, this figure is likely to rise substantially. Visitor spending supports the entire community, not the “very few.”
