Hussein Saleh, 61, teacher, singer, poet, founder of Tut Oasis restaurant

Hussein Saleh, 61, of Oak Park, died on Dec. 25, 2013. Born on Oct. 10, 1952 in Cairo, Egypt, he graduated with a degree in English literature from Ain Shams University. He loved to teach and write songs and poetry. An accomplished singer, he was well known in the Middle Eastern music community. His talent for and love of cooking led to his founding Tut Oasis Restaurant, which served as a local gathering place in Oak Park for many years. 

Hussein Saleh is survived by Marlis (Dean), his wife of 32 years; his children, Hisham (Mairead Ernst) and Yasmine; his brother, Ahmed (Nagla Lotfy) and their three children, Amal, Mohamed, and Ali; his siblings, Hanafy, Hoda, Safaa, Hassan, Sayed, and Husam; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Mohamed and Sabah.
