Edith Crabbe, 101, Social worker, past president of Zonta Club

Edith P. Crabbe, nee Prescott, 101, formerly of Oak Park, died on Jan. 15, 2012 at Westminster Place, Presbyterian Homes in Evanston. She worked as a social worker from 1933 to 1973 with the Cook County Department of Welfare and related agencies, served as president of Zonta Club of Oak Park and on the Oak Park Symphony board, and was a member of the Nineteenth Century Club and the Senior Citizen's Center of Oak Park-River Forest. She was also a longtime member of First United Church of Oak Park.

Edith Crabbe is survived by her niece, Marcia (Ray) Plum.

Services will be held at Elliott Chapel, Presbyterian Homes, 3131 Simpson (Golf Road) in Evanston on Friday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Kris Ronnow, Rev. Julie Harley, and Rev. Frank Baldwin officiating, followed by inurnment at Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.

Memorials may be sent to the Geneva Foundation at Presbyterian Homes, 3200 Grant St., Evanston, IL 60201 or to Knox College in Galesburg. Arrangements were handled by Peterson-Bassi Chapels.
