The OPRF girls basketball team's win-streak was halted at four games with a 65-41 loss to Evanston on Tuesday night.
The Huskies were playing without starting point guard Maeve Connelly, who was held out due to a deep thigh bruise. OPRF head coach JP Coughlin said she's expected to play this Saturday when the Huskies travel to Hinsdale Central.
Undersized against Evanston, the Huskies had a tough time from the get-go. They managed to cut the deficit to 12 in the final period but got no closer.
Caroline Kelty led OPRF with 14 points.
"Evanston might be the best team we have played all year, and we have played a lot of the top teams," said Coughlin.
The Huskies were coming off an early morning 72-71 win over Nazareth on Monday as part of the MLK Classic Shootout held at Whitney Young. OPRF hung on for the win despite Nazareth hitting 10-of-14 shots from behind the three-point arc.
Kelty finished with 19 points, while Cuyla Hall had 15 and Hailey Hoye chipped in 11. Erin Orr added nine points and pocketed two key steals near the end of the game.
