Oak Park police said a 12-year-old boy was attacked in the alley behind the 1100 block of South Lyman Avenue, Monday around 4:30 p.m. According to reports, an unknown man between 20 and 25 years old approached the victim and grabbed him by his coat collar. He pulled the boy to the ground by his collar and demanded money as he squeezed the victim's neck. The victim broke free and fled and the offender ran eastbound in the Garfield Street alley from Lyman, police said. The boy was unhurt except for red marks on his neck, police told neighbors. No loss was reported.
