Jean Phelps, 91, formerly of Oak Park, died on Dec. 14, 2014 at her residence, the Presbyterian Homes in Evanston. Born on July 18, 1923 in Kansas City, Kansas, she moved to Oak Park at an early age and resided here from 1935 to 2001. She graduated from Mann Elementary and Oak Park and River Forest High School and attended Park University in Parkville, Missouri and the University of Chicago. 

For many years she worked in management in the telecommunications industry. She was a member of Zonta, the 19th Century Woman's Club, and First United Church of Oak Park. 

Jean Phelps is survived by her sister, Lynn (Jim) McClure; her nephews, Jack McClure and Don (Ruth) McClure; her niece, Julie (Fred) Giegler; and her six great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial service will be held on Dec. 26, 2014 at 10 a.m. in Elliott Chapel of the Presbyterian Homes, 3131 Simpson St. in Evanston.
