Food columnist Frank Chlumsky wrote in the Dec. 27 issue of Wednesday Journal that Certifiedland Grocery at 940 Lake St. will close because of development plans for its building.
A call to Certifiedland owner Jimmy Charalab yielded this response: “No comment,” followed by an abrupt hang-up.
Other businesses in the building have closed since it was sold in March for $9 million. Redevelopment of the site is recommended in village’s Greater Downtown Master Plan.
The Original Pancake House occupies the building’s southwest corner space at 954 Lake St.
