Charlotte Cohen, 89, a 35-year resident of Oak Park, died on Jan. 9, 2013 at the Bridgeway Christian Village in Bensenville. Born in Chicago on Aug. 27, 1923 to the late Louis and Marie Flynn Cohen, she graduated from Austin High School and attended Wright College. For over 10 years, she drove a taxi cab in Chicago and most recently worked for eight years as a parking attendant in Oak Park.

Her community spirit led her to regularly attended village board meetings, and she frequently wrote letters to the editor in the local papers. She loved animals and was a member and supporter of numerous organizations dedicated to the care and protection of domestic and wild animals.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. Private interment will take place at Waldheim Cemetery in Forest Park.

Donations in honor of Charlotte may be made to the Animal Care League of Oak Park, 1013 Garfield, Oak Park, IL 60304.
