Wednesday Journal is following the progress of former area high school athletes as they compete at the collegiate level. Stats are through Sunday.

Alabama A&M basketball junior, Evan Hilton, made 7-of-11 free throws, snagged four rebounds, and pocketed two assists in two games last week. Hilton has started in all 13 games this season for the Bulldogs.

Senior Vincent Humphrey, a member of the Northern Kentucky University men's basketball team, made a trio of 3-point shots last week to help the Norses in wins against Indianapolis and St. Joseph's College.

Christian Cornelius, a sophomore basketball player for Southern Illinois University, received playing time against Bradley and Indiana State in last week's play.

Loyola University women's basketball junior, Britney Marshall, recorded three points and one steal against Butler last week. The Ramblers returned last Saturday to beat Valparaiso University 64-60. Marshall recorded two defensive rebounds for Loyola.

Georgetown senior basketball guard, Kristin Heidloff, played in last week's games for the Hoyas against Big East foes Cincinnati and Villanova. Georgetown looks to regain speed this week when they take on Big East rivals Rutgers and Notre Dame.

Devereaux Peters, a freshman at Notre Dame, helped the Fighting Irish get past Louisville last week. Peters had eight points and eight rebounds in the win and in a loss to West Virginia the same week. This week Peters will take on fellow Fenwick alum, Heidloff.

If there is a collegiate athlete from the area that you would like an update on every week, e-mail the name, the school and the sport to Barb Steffen at basteffen@gmail.com. The sport must be in season for an update.
