Irmgard "Irma" Seidel, 88, of Forest Park, died on Dec. 31, 2010 at Meadowbrook Manor Nursing Home in La Grange. Born on Nov. 11, 1922 in Bolkendorf, Germany to Wilhelm and Anna Koppe, she married Walter Seidel in 1940. Mrs. Seidel had a passion for animals and was a pet owner of many. She loved gardening, baking and the outdoors. She worked for 28 years at Carson Pirie Scott and Co. as a manager until her retirement in 1990.

Irma Seidel is survived by her children, Eva Redenz, with whom she resided in Forest Park, Ilona McCleary and Guenter Seidel (Erna); her grandchildren, Sabine Scudiero (Alex), Mike Redenz (Meg), Eric McCleary, Chris Alexakos (Peter), Guenter Seidel (Jamie), and Michaela McNiffe (Martin); his great-grandchildren, A.J., Anna, Joey, Sonny, Keith, Nicholas, Darian, Aidan and Erin; and her siblings, Anneliese Seidler and Manfred (Ruth) Koppe. She was preceded in death by her son, Marold Seidel, and her siblings, Lisa Ringhand and Guenter Koppe.

The funeral service was held at Grace Lutheran Church in River Forest on Jan. 6, 2011, followed by interment at Concordia Cemetery in Forest Park

A memorial fund to help stray animals has been established in her honor at the Animal Care League, 1011 Garfield St., Oak Park, IL, 60304. Arrangements were handled by Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home.
