Carjacking at Randolph and Ridgeland in Oak Park

A 39-year-old woman, driving eastbound on Randolph, Monday night at 10:15 p.m. was waved down by a man who then demanded she exit her car. When she complied, he hopped in and drove off northbound on Ridgeland in her black 2001 Oldsmobile. No weapon was displayed, according to Oak Park Police Commander LaDon Reynolds.

The offender was described as a black male, 25-30 years old, 5 feet 8, wearing a black stocking cap and black coat, pants and shoes. The car, worth $1,000, was recovered early Tuesday morning in Chicago on the 3900 block of Roosevelt Road. It is being processed for fingerprints and other evidence.

LOL- she was 39! D'oh! Hardly elderly...I will tell you why she did- because too many people are on automatic and pretty much do what others tell them to do.

I agree. You never stop for someone waving you down, especially a stanger late at night. A little old lady, perhaps, but...Not too street smart.

Why would she stop and weren't her car doors locked? If he had no gun, why did this happen?
