Oak Park and River Forest High School is proud to announce that 21 of its students have placed as National Merit Scholarship semifinalists in the 2011-12 program. In addition, one student has earned the distinction of being named a National Achievement Scholarship semifinalist, and three students earned National Hispanic Recognition Program honors – two as scholars, and one honorable mention.
Students at OPRF High School are living up to the school's motto of "Those things that are best" with a string of recent awards. The honors include OPRF's debate team tie for 19th place in the nation during the Tournament of Champions and OPRF's student newspaper, the Trapeze, winning several blue ribbons at the Scholastic Press Association Awards.
Orchesis Dance Company will present its annual Spring Dance Concert, "Orchesis Under the Big Top," featuring the seventy member company performing dances that center around a circus theme on Friday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 8 at 3 p.m.
On March 26, nine dancers from the Orchesis Dance Company at Oak Park and River Forest High School will perform at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, Chicago's premiere performance space for contemporary dance in Chicago.
The OPRF Drill Team attended the National Universal Dance Association (UDA) Championships in Orlando, Florida On Feb. 5, where they placed sixteenth in the nation in the Varsity High Kick category, only 2 points away from finals.
