Ascension School invites new families to visit and register for classes for its Centennial Year! Mary Jo Burns, Principal of Ascension School for the past thirteen years is justly proud of the position Ascension School is in as it begins its second century.
Ascension School in Oak Park offers faith-based education for students from three-years-old through eighth grade. Ascension students consistently score above national norms on standardized tests and fare well academically in high school. Ascension received the Blue Ribbon Award in from the Department of Education in 2007.
Ascension's own student-produced newspaper "Attention Ascension!" is now available online. The newspaper includes feature news articles, student generated photographs, as well as an advice column, restaurant reviews, and student-drawn comics.
Mrs. Maryann Sklaney will retire from Ascension School after teaching first grade there for forty years. Ascension will hold a reception for Mrs. Sklaney on Sunday, June 5 at noon in the school's Pine Room.
