Last week, Carolyn and I went to Buzz Café on Tuesday night to attend a discussion given by the Peace Corps (yes, we're considering that; senior citizens are making up a growing percentage of this volunteer group).

Afterwards, we were walking back to the car and Carolyn suggested we go to Trattoria 225 for dinner. We hadn't been in a while, so I thought, Why not?

We ordered a pizza and salad to share, and then the server mentioned to us, "You know, you get two pizzas for the price of one," and so I thought again, Why not? "We can even box it for you to take home," she added, helpfully.

Our first pizza was topped with goat cheese, fennel sausage and pesto, which was a good combo, all very complementary flavors, and our second pie had roast pepper, caramelized onion and spicy sausage. I liked both pizzas and the crust on them was better than I remember. It seemed there was a point in the past, perhaps before the place changed hands, that Trattoria 225 was using pre-made pizza crust; the crust on our pizza was clearly hand-made, fresh and good.

For both pizzas, $16, eight bucks each. Not bad at all.

Glancing around the dining room, it looked like a lot of people were eating one pizza in the restaurant and taking home the "free" one. We followed that lead.

Leaving, we noticed the dining room had a number of empty tables, and that's too bad because on Tuesdays, Trattoria 225 is offering the best pizza deal in town.

The food at Trattoria 225 is splendid! David mentioned the wonderful whole wheat pizza crust, which is baked in the brick oven there. The other day, I had the beet/feta cheese/walnut salad and it was fantastic! I like the ambience of the place- - the smooth jazz they play there and the original art work on the walls! Love it!

Trattoria 225 has great Pizza and Entree's. Selection of beer on draft changes and they keep up with local micro brews plus good wine. Give this place a try for dinner! The Arts District has been hit hard now with the loss of La Majada. Hopefully this area will recover.

Intheburbs, about LTHForum.com, I stopped by the soon-to-opened Carnivore tonight, and both the owners -- Erik and Brad -- had used the forum to find out more about local food; Erik had even posted on the site years ago. About taking crap, I learned how to do that on LTHForum, where I've been a lead moderator since 2004. Take care, and your good words (and Sausage Guys') are much appreciated. Dave seems to be taking a lot of crap and I have never met the guy. I can, however, saw that he is associated with the LTF Forum. If anyone wants to find a good restaurant that is out of the mainstream, I suggest you give the site a try. I use it all the time and eating at some of these great restaurants or finding some difficult ingredient makes it easier to put up with the sometimes difficult aspects of urban living I read about on this board all the time

Been about two years since we were here, but their BLT pizza (with arugula and pancetta) and their grilled prosciutto and mozzarella appetizer are excellent, too. (Although at the price of a whole pizza with this special, perhaps an entire pizza's the better deal.)

I hope for the sake of the world that you get a job in the peace corp but I will really miss your great writing. I dont think they have white castle in the peace corps but maybe you could do a review of the food for us all. It would be a great way for us to continue your fantastic writing talents
