Quick hints for where to eat every weekend

Every Friday, I'll be doing a piece on Rivet News Radio called "Eat the Weekend," a run-down of three local restaurants at three price points.

Rivet News Radio is a customizable, downloadable app that enables you to listen to radio programs and select the kind of programs you'd like to hear…including my food-focused pieces, like "Eat the Weekend."

In this first episode, I cover local favorite Gene and Jude's, Old Crow Smokehouse in Wrigleyville, and The Lobby at the Peninsula downtown.

Every week I'll provide brief and, I hope, helpful coverage of three different eating spots. The idea is to give listeners quick ideas for where they might go to eat over the weekend.

I'm working on this series with several individuals, including Oak Park's Charley Meyerson, who is handling Rivet's News Strategies initiative.

You can listen to Eat the Weekend by clicking right here.

At the site, you can also download the Rivet News Radio app.

If you have any local favorites, please post about them here – I plan on doing an all Oak Park segment soon.

Excellent thought, Phil re: Big Guys. I'm thinking of doing a sausage segment, too, so that fits. Appreciate, also, the generous appraisal of this early effort on Rivet.

Nice app, David. Before hearing it, I was worried about the lack of video ("we eat first with our eyes"). But you do a great job with the background kitchen/dining room audio to make the restaurants "come to life"! Looking forward to new ones in the future. (I'm still a fan of Big Guys in Berwyn, and recommend for a "cheapo" spot.)
