If you’re 60 years of age or older, Oak Park Township Senior Services subsidizes lunches so that you can eat well for $1.50 at the Oak Park Arms.
Celeste Duignan, the Senior Lunch Program Manager, told us that she designs menus “based on 2,000 calories/day American Dietary Association model, which is a three oz. portion of protein and three servings of fruit and vegetables.”
Monday, lunch was stuffed pepper, mostaciolli, mixed vegetable and garlic bread.
Today, lunch is chicken salad in a tortilla wrap, berry muffin, fruit cocktail, fresh celery and red pepper strips.
In addition to lunch at the Oak Park Arms, Duignan’s group also handles home delivery to seniors and organizes a number of activities and senior support services, like help with finances, shopping for groceries.
Lunch is served from 11AM-12:30PM, Monday through Friday.
If you would like to take advantage of this subsidized lunch, you can simply show up at the Oak Park Arms dining room with a driver’s license/state ID and have lunch that day.
“There’s always someone here to talk to,” assures Duignan. “Come and hang out with us.”
