I've probably written about Marion Street Cheese Market more than any other retail food resource in the village. I've done that because it's such a wonderful place to shop for specialty foods and such a distinctly local and satisfying place to have lunch or dinner.
When I was in high school, right around this time of year, I gave my sweetheart the gift of sausage: a salami from a local market [insert joke here]. No kidding.
I've always thought that a good sausage, or cheese, is a fine holiday gift: food – particularly good food – is something people might actually use.
There's a lot of local meat and cheese at Marion Street Cheese Market. On their website, you can purchase several gift collections, including a 3-month Cheese of the Month gift for about $100 or a simple gift card (always a safe bet) for $25.
I do enjoy going into the Marion Street Cheese Market to select a cheese for a gift (which I then hand to the recipient, face-to-face, in hopes they share). Of course, you can shop online and just have the gift packed up and delivered for you.
