Because I'm a food freak, people always ask me "What's the best place to eat in Oak Park."
It's an absurd question. What's "best" is so conditional upon what food you like, what you're feeling like eating, what kind of night it is, who's in the kitchen or on the floor that night, etc., etc.
A lot of times I'll fall hard for a dish, but other food at the place will leave me unmoved.
That's why, starting today on the Dining blog at oakpark.com and on VOP-TV, we'll be airing a monthly feature called "You Really Should Eat This."
This series, produced by VOP-TV & Wednesday Journal, will focus on single menu items that I like a lot – and that you really should eat.
The first food we're going to feature is the corned beef hash at George's. Now, make no mistake, there's a lot I like at George's, but the hash is one of my favorite foods. Ever. In the world.
Now, your mileage may vary, and I'm not awarding stars or any such thing, I'm just saying, for me, this food is something special…and you really should eat this.

There's nothing sacrilegious about ketchup on anything, Ben, as far as I'm concerned. Some would argue that if you put ketchup on a Chicago hot dog, you will surely be damned...but I say put it on whatever would benefit from this versatile condiment...including hash.

God I love hash. David, is it sacrilege to add ketchup in your mind?

First off, I think this video is wonderful. David is a natural on camera. And Joe Kreml is an outstanding videographer. Second, having worked upstairs from George's for 31 years I've eaten some of that hash and it is good. Third, who is this Marty J. Stempniak character who is commenting?

I never thought I'd say this, but that makes me want to eat hash!
