The number of minority students taking advanced placement classes at Oak Park and River Forest High School has increased in recent years but is still disproportionately lower in AP classes than in the overall enrollment.
The first meeting of the school year of parent group APPLE (African American Parents for Purposeful Leadership in Education) is next Tuesday Oct. 5, at Oak Park and River Forest High School, 201 N. Scoville.

PTOs that sell lunches as part of their fundraisers may not have to find an alternate funding source after all. The District 200 Board of Education approved an application waiver to be sent to the Illinois State Board of Education that would allow PTOs to sell healthy lunches. State regulations generally prohibit competing food sales during school hours within food service areas in buildings.
