Oak Park and River Forest High School and Oak Park school District 97 closed their school buildings for Monday Jan. 6, and Tuesday Jan. 7, due to the dangerously cold weather District 90 in River Forest also closed its schools for Monday and Tuesday. The three districts anticipate reopening their buildings on Wednesday Jan. 8.
Oak Park Elementary School District 97 announced Friday that it is canceling all outdoor activities for Monday, Jan. 6, and Tuesday, Jan. 7, due to expected bitterly cold weather next week. Classes at D97, however, will go on as scheduled.
It's not an ultimatum. Officials at Oak Park Elementary School District 97 insist an ultimatum was not their intent when they sent off a letter to the Village of Oak Park last month, concerning the possibility of a new school district headquarters being built on the land behind village hall.
