Fenwick High School and Triton College are in discussions about a multi-million dollar investment in shared athletic facilities on the community college's River Grove campus. Dominican University is also a party in the discussions according to comments made by a Triton official at a recent public meeting. 

After a brilliant 11-year run, Mike Powell is stepping down as the head coach of the Oak Park and River Forest High School wrestling team. The School Board accepted Powell's resignation at its March 20 regular meeting. According to OPRF Athletic Director John Stelzer, the search for Powell's replacement hasn't begun yet.

The Fenwick boys water polo team opened defense of its state championship with a 13-9 win over Loyola in a Metro Catholic Aquatic Conference matchup on Mar. 10.

A discussion about installing batting cages at Carroll Park served as a primary topic during the Carroll Park Master Plan update portion of the park district's Committee of the Whole meeting on March 6 at the Oak Park Conservatory. 

Fenwick baseball coach Dave Hogan enter this season with 711 wins in 33 seasons. Throughout the years, he's never lost sight of his love of the game and coaching the Friars.

The OPRF boys basketball team exited the Class 4A playoffs surprisingly early as Lake Park upset the Huskies 51-48 in the semifinals of the Leyden Regional this week.

Oak Park and River Forest High School senior Tess Trinka was recently named to the IHSA's All-State Academic Team. Trinka was one of 26 student-athletes (13 males, 13 females) selected from over 500 nominees around the state.

Fenwick center Dan Dwyer and forward Tom Planek have anchored the Friars' frontline this season in coach Rick Malnati's debut as the Fenwick coach. Both players offer leadership and impressive skill sets for the Friars.

The OPRF and Fenwick boys swim teams swam well at the state finals in Evanston. The Huskies finished 14th (29 points), followed by the Friars at 16th (26 points) in the team standings.

With possible state grant money on the table, the Park District of Oak Park is roaring ahead with an initial proposal for notable upgrades to the Rehm Park pool facility even as it gathers residents' ideas on what they want to see in their neighborhood pool.
