It did please the court
Seemed as if half of Oak Park crammed into the Illinois Supreme Court chamber at 160 N. LaSalle St. last Friday morning to see the installation of Pam Meyerson as a judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, 11th Subcircuit.
Blackhawks on the big screen at FitzGerald's
FitzGerald's Night Club in Berwyn (Clarence Avenue and Roosevelt Road) will feature the Stanley Cup finals on their 9 x 16-foot screen for as long as the series runs (with one exception).

The library and Park District of Oak Park have teamed to provide a wireless system supporting hundreds of simultaneous users and offering direct connections to the Internet from anywhere in the park. Guests can access WiFi in the park by connecting to the "scovillepark" wireless network.

Perusing the names of OPRF High School's graduates is always interesting. It is certainly an indication of our increasing diversity. Some get pretty involved. Celina Elise Sha Qing Madden, for instance, and Elias Aziz El-Metennani. Names are getting more complicated, with plenty of hyphens, including hyphenated middle names, which we'd never noticed before. But some are succinct, like Tito M. Tate.
The day the circus came to (through) Oak Park

Last Wednesday around 8:30 a.m., Oak Park commuter Marty Berg spotted a circus train rumbling through Oak Park on the Union Pacific West Line tracks.
Goodbye blacktop, hello green at Irving School
The Irving School community is really, really happy to see that blacktop playground surface at their school head to the scrap heap. That'll happen this summer as Irving and other District 97 schools receive new playgrounds.

Ascension School will wrap up its year-long 100th anniversary with the release of a Centennial Cookbook featuring recipes from some of its families.
Vanguard Health Chicago designation to change to UnityHealth
The parent company of West Suburban Hospital Medical Center will change the brand name under which it operates four Chicago area hospitals, Crain's reported last week. The Vanguard Health Chicago designation will disappear in June and be replaced by UnityHealth.
St. Giles plans to go 'nut-free'
Oak Park's St. Giles parochial school plans to become a "nut-free" campus.
