Cook County Sheriff's officers executed a child protection warrant to recover an 8-month-old baby in Oak Park on April 22. The child's 41-year-old mother had left a Chicago alcohol and drug addiction treatment center without permission on April 9, a sheriff's spokesperson said.
Oak Park police reported that a pair of phony contractors made off with two diamond rings and credit cards on April 18 in the 600 block of S. Lyman. Police said a 65-year-old homeowner flagged down the men, who were reportedly driving through his alley in a red late-model pickup marked with white writing.

A 24-year-old cyclist was struck by a turning car but had minimal injuries at the intersection of Home Ave. and Roosevelt Road in the early morning of April 5. Police said the Oak Park bicyclist was travelling eastbound on Roosevelt Road on the sidewalk and entered the crosswalk around 6:45 a.m. A 1999 Pontiac Bonneville travelling south on Home Ave. struck the cyclist who was knocked to the ground.
