Architects will study two options — including construction of a brand-new facility at 25 Lake St. — before the Park District of Oak Park's board decides whether their gymnastics program or Buildings & Grounds Department will be housed there.
Ed Condon, the still-new District 90 superintendent, told the board of education on Nov. 1 that he'd be comfortable making a recommendation in January on whether the district should implement a full-day kindergarten program beginning with the fall of 2013.
A teen center and a fitness center were among ideas discussed last Thursday by the River Forest Park District board as they develop a strategic plan for the near future. A 32-year-old Oak Park man was shot and killed Sunday morning following an argument in the Austin neighborhood. Kyle Matthews, of the 400 block of South Elmwood Avenue, was shot in the chest and died at 2:50 a.m. at Loyola Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
