Tues., Oct. 9, is the deadline to register to vote in the November election. The deadline applies to new residents, residents who have recently moved and individuals who will be 18 years old by Election Day, Nov. 6.

The U.S. Environmental Protection agency has named Oak Park a Green Power Community of the Year for its electricity aggregation program that purchases power and credits from 100-percent green sources like wind and solar. Oak Park was among 24 organizations to be honored by the USEPA with Green Power Leadership Awards for advancing the national renewal electricity market.
