Community Bank of Oak Park River Forest is pleased to announce that Kidz Express is the recipient of Community Bank's Champion Grant. The purpose of the Champion Grant is to assist organizations in providing community outreach programs for low or moderate income individuals.
Local artists have been working on re-creating 20 vintage windows from RK Management buildings' for a display at 229 Harrison during the What's Blooming Festival. The artists received minimal direction about how to approach the project — just to create a work of art using a vintage window recycled from an RK Management building. "Apply your creative and artistic vision to an individual window."
MacDowell Artists Association held its annual scholarship auditions for local high school seniors who plan to continue their study of music in college. The auditions were held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Oak Park on Saturday, May 5.
This year there were two winners, both from Oak Park: Marina Vulinovic, piano and Sarah Coffman, soprano.
Tabitha Watson, will graduate from Boston University on May 20th, 2012. She is a 2008 honors graduate of Oak Park River Forest High School where she played violin in the orchestra, and participated in the Spoken Word Poetry Program. Tabitha will graduate with dual degrees in Political Science and Journalism, with a minor in Spanish.

Residents of the 700 blocks of Home and Wenonah Avenues gathered at their recent joint block party to celebrate the installation of new 4-way stop signs at Home and Adams. The Home Avenue owners, together with their counterparts in the 600 block of Home, got together a petition to present to the Village of Oak Park; several also attended a committee meeting to testify on the need for the signs at the busy corner.
