The 13th-seeded Friars travel to Crystal Lake on Saturday to take on fourth-seeded Prairie Ridge (8-1) for the first round of the playoffs. Fenwick’s play this season has been mediocre at best, but then again the Friars compete in the bruising Blue Division of the Chicago Catholic League, home to such powerhouses as Loyola, Mt. Carmel and St. Rita.
The Fenwick football team capped off the regular season by downing Brother Rice 23-7 at Morton West High School on Saturday afternoon, a victory that helped the Friars celebrate homecoming and Senior Day, and one that qualified them for the Class 6A playoffs.
It came as no surprise to anyone when Malachy Schrobilgen crossed the finish line first and three of his teammates followed shortly after to secure a regional championship for the OPRF boys cross-country team at Schiller Woods on Saturday.

The OPRF tennis team closed out its season last week with a favorable finish at the IHSA State Meet. The Huskies finished tied for 32nd overall amongst a field of 103 teams that finished with at least a point.
