Oak Park resident Jim Andrews opened a hot dog stand on the West Side of Chicago in 2009 to give ex-offenders a place to work. But now, after almost three years of ups and downs, Andrews had to call it quits. His restaurant, Felony Franks, ceased operation a week ago Monday.
River Forest’s former village administrator has landed on his feet. Steve Gutierrez, who served as the village’s head honcho for two years to top off his 20-year tenure at village hall, parted ways with River Forest in September to spend more time with his family and go job-hunting.
Former River Forest Police Chief Nicholas Weiss, who resigned in 2008 under pressure from the village board, has landed a position as interim chief of far southwest suburban Elwood, according to the Joliet Herald-News.
Village President John Rigas said the project's developer, Keystone Ventures' Tim Hague, has requested to meet with him this week. Rigas had previously said the village was expecting to see a proposal for Lake and Lathrop sometime this week.
