LED light bulbs are now installed in forty lighting units in Oak Park Public Library’s parking garage at 834 Lake Street. The new LED lights are visibly brighter while using less than half the energy of the replaced bulbs. “The new lights also have a motion-detecting feature and switch to half-power when not activated,” states Facilities Manager Rory ONeill.
Three teams of students from Mann Elementary School and one team of students from Percy Julian Middle School qualified for the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals following their successful performance at the state tournament in Belleville, Illinois on March 31, 2012. They will be among the hundreds of teams from around the globe that will compete for title of world champion at Iowa State University from May 23 to 27.
Nichelle Brigham is to be married to Aaron Stigger. Ms. Brigham is a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago, IL with a Bachelor degree in communication. Currently, she works in Schaumburg, IL as an admissions counselor for Colorado Technical University. Nichelle graduated from Oak Park River Forest High School in 2000.
A presentation for legislators and colleagues on the timely topic of teacher effectiveness from leading experts in the field including the creator of the proposed default model for evaluating teachers in Illinois. Approximately400people are expected to attend.

Oak Park's Lincoln Elementary School Girl Scouts celebrated the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts with their annual Cake Bake Contest. A team of community judges vote for best cakes in different categories for each grade level. Cakes are put up for silent auction bids with the cake bake. All net proceeds go to funding a Lincoln School project.
