Tabitha Watson, will graduate from Boston University on May 20th, 2012. She is a 2008 honors graduate of Oak Park River Forest High School where she played violin in the orchestra, and participated in the Spoken Word Poetry Program. Tabitha will graduate with dual degrees in Political Science and Journalism, with a minor in Spanish.

Residents of the 700 blocks of Home and Wenonah Avenues gathered at their recent joint block party to celebrate the installation of new 4-way stop signs at Home and Adams. The Home Avenue owners, together with their counterparts in the 600 block of Home, got together a petition to present to the Village of Oak Park; several also attended a committee meeting to testify on the need for the signs at the busy corner.
The 6th grade arts students at Brooks and Julian Middle School have created beautiful, colorful, bird-themed art work for the 8th annual student art auction to benefit the Oak Park Education Foundation (OPEF). This year the show will take place at Magic Tree Bookstore, 141 N. Oak Park Avenue.
Holley Court Terrace, a Brookdale Senior Living independent and assisted living community in Oak Park, celebrated their 20th anniversary on Thursday, May 10, with a "Friends of Holley Court Terrace 20th Anniversary Party," The special event featured live music, refreshments and a video celebrating 20 years serving the needs of area seniors.
During its meeting this evening, the District 97 Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Todd Fitzgerald as the principal of Percy Julian Middle School, Mike Michowski as the principal of Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School, and Joanne Schochat as the district's assistant superintendent for human resources and general counsel.

The third annual "Rock Out for Sarah's Inn" fundraising event on April 19 was held at FitzGerald's Nightclub in Berwyn and was again a success for Sarah's Inn – with lots of fun for participating community members! The benefit concert featured local bands Fletcher Rockwell and The Webstirs and raised nearly $3,000 for the organization.
