OPRF High School baseball coach Chris Ledbetter, who has skippered the Huskies for 12 seasons, has been selected by the Illinois High School Association as Illinois' nominee for the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) Baseball Coach of the Year.
OPRF High School senior Foster Bayles was selected to the U.S. Rowing Scholastic Honor Roll. Foster is one of only 55 Scholastic Honor Award winners in the nation based on their grade-point average, test scores, and having competed successfully at the regional level.
College recruiters are no doubt happy to see Nile Sykes back on the football field. OPRF High School's 6-foot-1-inch, 215-pound defenseman has already received offers from such schools as Illinois, Northern Illinois, Purdue and Toledo. He visited Michigan State back in September.

Prompted to begin a sports program for student athletes with disabilities by a Fenwick High School swimmer, the Illinois High School Association announced on Monday it will begin a two-year pilot program.
